The Etive Mor waterfall provides one of the iconic views of Buachaille Etive Mor. Unfortunately it is so popular that in wet weather the path and viewing area turn into a quagmire of churned up mud. This location requires time to recover, so for that reason, I have not included a map or location information. However the location is easy to find elsewhere on the internet, so I decided to produce this post to inform about the area and its problems. On my first visit, it was very dry so there was not much mud, but there was also no water in the waterfall. It was only on a subsequent visit after wetter weather that the problems became apparent. Enoy the pictures below, but think twice about whether you have to visit this location. If you must visit, a cold frosty day might be best when the ground is frozen over.
When the river level is low, there are pool areas upstream of the waterfall offering reflections of the Buachaille.
It is also possible to photograph the River Etive backed by the Buachaille from the road bridge over the river. There are no problems with mud or erosion at this location.
